Archetype - Hands of Time

This is a four-song EP which follows Archetype's demo. 22 minutes of music are enough to show the capabilities in composing and arrangement of Archetype because all songs are equally well written and interesting.

The first song ('Visionary') reminds me of Iced Earth. The vocalists are sound alike too. The rest of the CD is far more progressive. The Archetype influences include NoExit/Perfect Symmetry Fates Warning and early Crimson Glory. The final sound of Archetype lies between progressive and power metal.

I wouldn't characterize the music "experimental" but definitely progressive, technical, vocally high and rapidly-changing.

My final thought, Archetype's 'Hands of Time' is a very good choice for every listener of power/progressive metal.

7.5/10

ps. Archetype are finishing their new CD. I'm sure it'll be even better than 'Hands of Time'.
