Chiaroscuro
– “Brilliant Pools Of Darkness”
The strange word they use
as a name has to do with photography techniques. Regarding to a group,
the word refers to five young Americans who issue by themselves their first
work and, at no doubt, leave very nice impressions. I don’t think that
their singer, Ian Dorsch, will deny that Buddy Lackey is one of his main
influences, but their music shows commonness with Waltz only occasionally.
I would say that they bring more in mind Eldritch, as they compose a successful
musical puzzle consisted of heaviness, melody and few electronic parts,
just like the Italian group does. Without lack of Theater-ic melodies,
of atmospheric parts that remind the new musical face of Marillion, and,
more barely, of groovy guitar heaviness. Original and interesting album,
and with well-looked-after songs as well. Check them out at www.chiaroscuro.net.
