Shadow
Keep - "Corruption Within"
Are there still British groups
playing like that? Because ok, Siam played that way, too, but at least,
they followed the mid-period of Ryche. But, a group of today, born in Britain
and playing in the vein of "Queen Of The Reich" EP and "The Warning", is
more seldom than a not drunk Englishman in a Greek island in August (juz'
kiddin'). So, this is a really pleasant surprise, and even more since they
show an obvious talent and much of will. No, this album won't find a place
beside the glorious power works of Ryche, nor will it face their other
great inspirations, the debut albums of Crimson Glory and Sanctuary. But,
with a really good, powerful sound production (with the assistance of Karl
Groom of Threshold), heavy guitars, flying vocals and much of fun and inspiration,
you can be sure you have something qualitative. Yes, quite ordinary, but
at least decent and well looked after. Homesicks and fans of real power
metal, ignore the childish front cover and remember of the old times with
this album, and with the straightforward cover version of "Queen Of The
Reich" that it contain, too.
