Muddfoot - "The Beauty Of The Swamp"
Ok,
this one has nothing to do with prog. But since when is this a blemish?
Actually, I would
rate this work with a really high grade if there were more moments referring
to the Great Lords Of All Metal (also known as Black Sabbath since, hmmmm,
about 30 years now), but unfortunately for my taste, these moments are
not that many. Hailing from Florida, this group with the extraordinary
name consists of two men and two women (but, actually, one of the male
members seems to, emmmm, let's say, espouse the female esthetic way). They
seem to create a whole concept about swamps and monsters hidden in them,
and yes, they do it right. The sound production doesn't help their efforts,
but the female vox are quite elastic, and their riffing is heavy and quite
dark sometimes. Beyond Sabbath, they seem influenced by american hard rock
bands, like e.g. Guns'n'Roses and Van Halen, but in a darker way, for sure.
Not bad at all, and surely, quite personal as a work and as an image.
