Third
Voice – “Reflections”
I
wish we could find more albums like that moving underground, and most of
all, I wish such albums and artists could see their name spread around.
Neither because this is the next big thing in prog metal, nor because it's
a perfect album. Production and sound of medium quality, keyboards that
cannot hide their low cost, a drum machine instead of drums...Yes, but
at the same time, a really good singer (Jeff Kearney, who should stay away
from screaming, though), prospective to become quite good in the future,
well looked-after guitar and bass work by Jason Pirone, gloomy, well written
lyrics, and most of all: talent! Ok, they have not written the song that
will leave you looking at the roof and raving. And they should escape from
the Fates (“Parallels” era mainly) syndrome soon, in order to create their
101% personal sound and result. But check them out at www.geocities.com/~thirdvoice/thirdvoice.html.
Don't be taken aback if in few years you see the flyer of a major record
company lying in your record shop and promoting their new album. If they
make the progress they can, they will surely deserve much more than simply
that.
